anytime I try to configure a bridge port for the r52h card wlan2 (it is in that slot because I also have a xr2 for the AP on the same rb 433ah) it shows as a disabled port, no forwarding or anything, ever. What is it that I am doing wrong?

Probably nothing. Before the wlanX radio will show “running”, a radio needs to connect to it, or it needs to connect to another radio, depending on the mode. Otherwise, almost any setting (/ip route especially) will show disabled, invalid, or unreachable.
See what is shows when you connect to the radio.
Also, insure you enabled the radio
