My CAPs doesn’t work good, and I want to know if there is a proble with routers or stupid device that loves to “flipping” between network without sense.
What cases are when this log appear?
2)There is any resposibility of Mikrotik?
There is anything I can special setting on Mikrotik to avoid it?
Maybe I have to enable only n, or any mode can be responsible of these problems?
CAPs are on different frequencies, 20MHz, 2GHz b/g/n
Thank you
1 this log “disconnected, registered to other interface” appears whenever a device leaves one interface for another. It’s not an error. It’s just a friendly message from the client device it has found a better interface.
2. The client device decides to switch. (That’s always the case with wifi!). What are the criteria of the client device ? That depends on the client device! The AP has only very few means to influence the client device decision. One of the best known is the TX power of the AP interface. It is quite common to set the 2.4 GHz interface 7 dB lower than the 5 GHz interface. For multiple AP’s using the same SSID it’s even a bit more complicated. Lowering the TXpower will reduce the overlap between the AP’s.
3.Well one of the things we do, is kick out devices with a low signal strength, while using Access lists on the AP. Not a perfect solution, kicking your client out, in the hope it will not return but find and select a better AP.
4.Using 2.4 GHz , on 20 MHz is OK. Do you really need the very old 802.11b? That 1 Mbps rate stretches very far ! Giving a lot of overlap.
