Disruptive packet sniffing

Hi
I (remotely) enabled packet sniffing on an RB951G-2HnD and configured it to
transmit the collected packets to remote wireshark server.

I simply selected the interface and specified the direction (Tx)
and hit START…then POW !!! I lost access to my router

Luckily I had someone on site to disable the sniffing

I have run packet sniffing before in a similar manner, except that
I had specified PORT and DESTINATION IP in the filters

Is this a bug or did I do something silly ?

thanks
yann

You basically just duplicated all traffic being sent out of a given interface towards the wireshark server. Depending on where that is in relation to the network, you probably saturated your WAN interface for upload, thus cutting off your access.

Thanks for the confirmation Feklar
I had a feeling I had done something silly
