DMCA complaints and PTP filter

Hi all,

Does anybody know if the built in ptp firewall rules will be enough to stop DMCA complaints flooding into my inbox. I am not interested in blocking ptp outright just stopping these complaints. I know using this rule to block the traffic will cause the ptp client software to switch to encrypted methods. I have no idea what technology is used to detect offences but I am thinking they will not be able to track the encrypted stuff so easy. can anybody shed any light on this.

In every normal country those complaints are worthless without court order.
I’ve email filter for them, sending them directly to junk/spam folder.

I need to stop them because a VPN provider I use blocks my account everytime I get one. I then have to go through a routine of agreeing to remove software blah blah before it is reactivated. Real pain in the Butt I have checked all VPN providers and they have same policy in the UK now.

I use a combination of firewall filter and the “P2P” category of a dns blocking service:

See http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/how-to-block-torrent-100-only-2-lines-it-is-solved/66890/1 and https://www.safedns.com/order-safedns-online.

It’s not a perfect solution, but has worked well in practice.
