DNS and HTTP probe may be causing linux server crashing

I just moved to the Dude from IPmonitor and all of a sudden, my webserver running cold fusion, mysql, apache, and dns started crashing. First the dns would go, then things started going downhill and I had to reboot to get them back up. After this happening for a couple of weeks, I turned of the dns and http monitoring and just pinged the server and it has been running fine ever since. This was a very stable system before this. I was running 2.0beta1.

Anyone ever seen anything like this or am I all wrong on this? Maybe it is too early to tell.

Hello !

I have same problem, altough on other devices.

  1. My Planet VIP-145T voip phone hangs from time to time
    and
  2. DLINK DWL-2200 Acces points also hangs
    when monitored by Dude.

I’ve enabled only ping from dude and now it works fine. (but now I can
not monitor traffic via snmp)

Does anyone know why is this happening ?

Guys,

Do you get the same problems running v1.2?

I have never tried 1.x Dude. I’m leary of giving it a try since this was happening on a production server.

Tom

I would give it ago, maybe in a test environment first, but I have been using it in a live environment since it was released with apache and I have not had any problems. It’s been great
