Hello, I’ve got a question about the DNS settings for RouterOS, let me give a brief example of my network:
We have an RB493AH running a hotspot, that goes to an external radius server for user auth. It’s setup to route traffic from the User’s subnet to the infrastructure’s network, which is running OSPF, from that RB, it gets routed via a UBNT wireless link back to the central office, where it hits an RB450G, which takes incoming connections from 2 other outline towers and routes them to the core router, all routers are running OSPF, the Core router handles handing out DHCP addresses, firewall filtering rules, and DNS. I would like to have the core router handle ALL dns quarry’s, and remove that from the RB’s running the hotspots, as of right now I have 1 RB that gets bogged down with DNS requests, I’ve had my customers complain about it a few times. the DHCP server hands out the core router’s IP as a DNS server, so as far as Im aware, they shouldn’t even be using the Hotspot’s RB for DNS.
Is doing what I want to do as simple as unchecking the “allow remote requests” in the DNS server on the Hotspot’s RB?
