I think that it would be time to create more documentation for the 3.0 RC series.
I know you are working on it, and it is a tedious task.
But especially the new features or the ones that have changed a lot from 2.9 should be handled with highest priority. We (and probably many others out there) are prepared to do more and more “live” tests of the 3.0 RCs. But we need at least a little documentation on the new and changed features.
Take scripting for example: There have been numerous changes to the scripting syntax, yet they are not documented anywhere. You can pick up some bits from the forum, but that’s asking too much …
So PLEASE do create at least some really really preliminary documentation for new features - even just some notes jotted down would help. Tell us what exactly some new features/commands do, and what the parameters are.
Your (MikroTiks) profit would be that you’ll probably get more testing feedback on especially those new features, which should prove valuable for getting 3.0 finished as soon as possible.
Looks like not much there yet, and some broken links, and hasn’t been updated since Dec 12. Opinion: If they indeed have release candidate software, they should have release ready documentation. The documentation should be fully ready by release time.
Just an idea, but when introducing new features, or modifying some old ones, they could be put in a special topic, with no public write access, some kind of “extended changelog”. Might help MT stuff too, in the manual making.
I also miss some documentation on 3.0, and fight with a few boards to go stable.
Yes, I do look in the forum and the wiki, but sometimes you just miss some centralized way of getting information, instead of browsing hundreds of topics.
Also think will help a lot us in testing/implementing and giving feedback here.
