Hi all,
What’s your experience with V7 and CRS109 ?
From our tests it seems not stable with the CPU going crazy.

One has to state the obvious: CRS109 is a switch which requires use of switch chip configuration subset to make it switch wirespeed. And with this regard, nothing changed between ROS v6 and v7.
So why would you want to upgrade it to v7? Anything that v7 brought is CPU bound and CRS109 is not fit for those tasks anyway.
We would like to use CAKE queue for example for a client with only 10/10 mbits bandwith, there is a lot of packet drops..
But as soon as we configure a cake queue the CRS109 is totally unresponsive.
Cake queue is a CPU feature (on all MT devices) and as already mentioned, CRS109’s CPU is not really fit to do anything but management.
If you want to limit some client to 10Mbps and that client is directly connected to a port of CRS109, then you can set that port to only advertise 10Mbps (both half- and full duplex) and it will work without any CPU intervention. But if you want to do more fancy stuff, then get a device with much more powerful CPU (e.g. RB5009 or RB4011 come to my mind).
Yeah it’s time to go to ARM64 CPU !
