Does RouterOS support USB wireless devices?

A simple question:

Does RouterOS support USB wireless devices?

v.

Based on what I read in this forum and elsewhere, it does not. There used to be some support for AR9271 based devices in RouterOS 5.x, but it’s no longer supported in RouterOS 6.x (answer from someone from MikroTik here or here).

Too bad, it would be a nice feature. Personally I could have used it at least three times:

  • to add small AP to RB711UA-5HnD (it has USB port, so why not have some use for it)
  • same for rack mounted CRS (it might sound strange, but if it’s for home or small office, where you might have small rack in the room and need wireless AP only for occassional phone, connecting USB adapter on a short cable just outside the rack would be more than enough; I know, hAP Lite is not expensive, but it’s almost overkill)
  • add wireless to CHR for various experiments and perhaps even for something useful

If some USB wireless devices were to be supported, there’s a question which ones. Clearly this isn’t something needed by too many users, so it wouldn’t be reasonable to expect support for everything. But even support for one easily-available-everywhere chipset (some Realtek or Ralink perhaps) would be nice.
