Does "soft reset" jumper work on RB112+RouterOS-3.

I can’t seem to get an RB112 loaded with 3.0beta7 (via ftp and reboot) in the lab to work again :frowning:

Prior load was 2.9.42, but I never had to try the “soft reset” jumper.

What’s new in 2.9.42:

*) fixed RouterOS configuration to reset when “Soft Reset” jumper on
RB133C or JP1 on RB532r5 is shorted;

what exactly is your question, how to upgrade to v3b7 or what does the jumper do?

The question is in the subject line, but I’ll restate the obvious, as the implication of the ChangeLog was that the “soft reset” button might not work as expected. Reasonable expectations are that a RouterOS box always respond to winbox if directly connected, even though perhaps by mac address only.

Restatement: RB112 was upgraded to 3.0beta7. After upgrade, RB112 can’t be seen by winbox. How does one recover?

I still don’t understand how the line in changelog is connected to your beta7 problem and winbox.

Use Netinstall

Netinstall isn’t an option in our environment because:

  1. we quit WinDoze 01/01/2006

  2. Netinstall won’t run under Wine AFAIK (we discussed this matter in a support ticket a few weeks ago).

If you have another suggested method, we would be appreciative.

Is this a case of first impression with regard to 3.0beta7 hanging on an RB133?

Beta7 has not been hanging on any hardware, especially not on a RouterBOARD. I’m sorry, but for now Netinstall is your only option, you will have to find a Windows machine somewhere.

Or use a RouterOS installation CD-ROM (created from the ISO image available). There’s an option to use this as a “live-CD-netinstall-server”, I believe (never done myself, but quite sure there’s an option to do so :wink: ).
