"doubled" packager

Hello,

A month ago i tryed mikrotik Ros v7. After a day i downgraded it to v 6.45.5.

Now i can not do upgrade - it will download new package, but after restart it is still on v 6.45.5. In package list is everything doubled. i Tryed unistall it, reset config (after it tryed uninstall packages),…

Picture is saved here https://ctrlv.cz/ltkl

Can somebody help?

thx

Wow… first time i see that…
Well try to netinstall your device…

Now wait. “Netinstall without success” can mean many things. Did the netinstall procedure fail, or did everything work as it should (device detected, upload of the file successful) but after a restart the old package is still there?

@sindy have you seen double packages after failed netinstall ?

I haven’t seen them ever, but @radek’s description is vague, and use of netinstall may be very confusing for people who never used it before. On my previous laptop netinstall never worked - I could see the device, but loading the file ended after timeout and that was it, no data were actually transferred. That’s why I’m asking, whereas a normal upgrade procedure (installation of a .npk file on ramdisk) runs under control of the old version of RouterOS, netinstall runs under control of the bootloader, so if after netinstall the old version is still there, the first reason to come to my mind is that the netinstall procedure must have failed so much that the previous contents of the flash has remained intact.

OP never mentioned netinstalling the device.

He did and then that post disappeared.

  • I could see the device, but loading the file ended after timeout

I ve seen that too. Trying different netinstall versions always helped.

He did and then that post disappeared.

:open_mouth:

Hm, I’d like to know which actions are just a cargo cult and which really work… I just gave it a try with my new laptop and netinstall 6.45.7, it looked the same - press “install”, the progress bar is empty, the status message is “sending offer”, and after some time it finishes, after reboot the RB runs the old version.

So after some time, I’ve exited netinstall while the RB was in the target list (so it was still running bootloader), and then started netinstall again and it did what was expected - formatted the flash and then uploaded the .npk.

Double the packages, half the posts
Gain some, lose some.

Anyway, I’d like to request full Netinstall failure description.

Mine or @Radek’s? If mine, in what form? Since text description wasn’t sufficient, will a video be enough, do you want a .pcap as well (an intermediate switch keeping the ethernet on the PC up didn’t change anything about the behvaiour on the previous PC so the pcap could be taken)?

Hello.

Now it is OK - i installed 6.46.1 without problem - not via neinstall but copyed npk to root in files and then rebooted. after this has tik clear install, so i restored backup and now is everything fine. I thing i tryed thi wit ver 6.45.

With netinstall it not works - i also disabled firewall, but without success, but this will be probaly problem with something wrong in windows.

Now tryed upgrade to v7b4 and then downgrade to 6.46.1 without problem…
