Downgrade To LongTerm

I know about Downgrading RouterOS.
But i have all infrastructure on LongTerm & bought new device rb4011igs_rm for new point with factory 7.8
I am not ready grade infrastructure to 7.x && don`t wan testing problems using different firmware/software…

Maybe possible make downgrade without broke license to long term??

P.S.
Sorry, but it`s graceless force your users to be a beta testers.

You can not go lower then factory SW version.
It is what it is.

ROS 7 stable version should not bring problems unless you use some special features.
What parts do you think are not working properly yet ?

CapSman
IpSec, GRE
I already try one device on 7 stable… its SUCKS… i dont want a second trying different firmware's. at one dont work normally IpSec with 6.x at another dont work. wi-fi and capsman writing on fly - its not stable its BETA... why you are sold new device with factory higher then long term ??? why you are have long term if i cant use them ??? only i have this questions ???

“unless you use some special features”
Its a mem?? are you looking around. bug fixe lists on new stable versions you are reading?

MikroTik often change hardware without changing device type number. When newer revisions of the same hardware are manufactured they often require minor changes to the firmware and these are not backported to old versions.
I do have a RB4011 that can still run 6.47 but newer hardware can only run v7.8 and above.

So there is really nothing you can do, I would recommend to upgrade to version 7.10.2 or better yet 7.11rc2 and work with that.

I read all release notes which come out, yes.
Every.
Single.
One.

All devices I control, run ROS 7. At home usually the latest test versions, at work latest stable.
I don’t have any problems, sorry for that.

I use containers, wifiwave2, legacy wifi, WW2 Capsman, VLAN, DHCP, routing, firewall, several wireguard connections, zerotier, IPSEC to Azure, SXT LTE connection, AC3 LTE connection, EOIP connections, wireless bridging, load balancing,…
If new versions come out, I first test at home. Occasionally a glitch happens, yes, but that’s to be expected with SW versions.
Especially lately with wifi on AX devices, that hasn’t been too funny but looks like the errors are being ironed out.

So apart from what anyone is supposed to read, what real problems do you have ?
It’s easy to complain but you are not really specific about what doesn’t work for you.

Maybe there is something we can help with ?

I have a problems with work stability IPSec+GRE between 6.x LT and 7.x Stable.
Capsman & Vawe2 - its long song. i understand for ax3 - new hardware and wifi6 - maybe - use at home, many troubles with old devices and so…
but on production long term and Capsman work perfect. i am not have time to play with new version. then LT on 7.x - i will use.

I cannot understand - why you are agitate me to stable. i understand all nuances, but i dont want use a stable, i want use LT. But Mikrotik compels me to use stable. Remove long term - i will be now, only stable and decide to use it or use another vendor. We are talking about production, not a home or small office, we a talking about networks 100+ pcs.
Bussines don`t want experiments, it JUST WANT TO WORK!!! On this we bought 4011 not a new hardware!

Newest v7.10.2 is just as “stable” as any v6. Calling something “long term” does not make it more stable. It simply means MikroTik will not be putting more changes into a version, only security fixes.

At home i am on 7.10.2 its not bad, but not so good.

“It simply means MikroTik will not be putting more changes into a version, only security fixes.”
that is i want.
Are you remember 1st LT on 6 version then created ?? why so ?

This discussion is 2 years late, we are almost at the gates of seeing V6 considered legacy, like it or not, it’s time to adopt v7 everywhere

it’s time to move on

it’s been a while since it is

This is why i`m not like marketing and large business. One man is nothing :frowning:
Maybe i will talk with middle or large client not with you

And yet we have to see from you 1 single problem report with corresponding configuration which goes wrong on ROS7.

You talk about issues.
But you don’t show anything to proof your statement ?

my issue, i don`t want be a tester. i wan use LT already good tested, work good.

You are not try to resolve my issue, you try to force me to rOS 7. I don`t want it. Then it will be tested so good as LT and you make it LT, i make plan and migrate on it.
This is a different between LT and stable, want you want new hardware or new features - go to rOS 7, not need use LT.

Yeah, but your device does not work with RouterOS v6. So you need RouterOS v7 ( >= 7.8 ).
As also mentioned by normis, at MikroTik there is no real difference between “stable” and “long term” versions.
It is not like at some other manufacturers, where versions need to be “stable” for quite some time before they become “long term”.
The version name refers more to the release schedule than to the stability of the software.

4011 not work with 6.x?? you are trolling me ??

There’s nothing you can do about it, give up.
All new produced peripherals are v7 non-downgradable whether you like it or not.
They even had the kindness to leave the same name, without implying that you would be forced to use v7 whether you like it or not.
MikroTik doesn’t give a damn about you or others like us who would not use RouterOS 7 for the missing features and stability that only v6 have.

I already explained it to you. When you don’t read, your problem!

AFAIK

MikroTik has stated that newer batches of devices mandatorily come with newer software because of minor changes in the hardware which require updated software, because of this they are not downgradable to previous versions

Yeah, that is what I explained to him last friday, but he does not want to listen…

You can try the “virtualisation: KVM/HyperV/VMWARE/XEN/…”, then you can install/downgrade any version you want
