Have a SXT 5HPnD that seems to have stability issues. This showed up some time ago, after upgrading routerOS from 6.42.6 to 6.43.4. To sort out if it is the RouterOS version, I have tried to downgrade to 6.42.6, but it doesn’t seem to work. Have done it many times before on other hardware, by uploading the .npk file to the unit, go to Packages and select downgrade. On this unit, however, the unit reboots with same version. Also tried to upgrade to 6.43.8 by uploading .npk file and reboot. Used to work, but not on this unit. What am I doing wrong?
P.S. Saw some posts here about using NetInstall, but couldn’t figure out how to use it…
When upgrade (or downgrade) fails, usually there’s something in the logs about the reason. A few times it turned out that there were either npk files for a wrong CPU platform or there were npk files for different ROS releases …
After reading the Netinstall info it seems like it is not a tool to use in the current situation. The SXT unit is connected in a remote WAN, and a complete reinstall could make it very hard to reach it and configure it.
Tried again to upgrade by putting a .npk file into the files and do a reboot. The log shows only a few lines - none related to the upgrade process, just 5 lines with “system Info” and then a “Router rebooted” message.
Also tried an upgrade via Packages/Check for updates (to ensure a right version for the hardware). Still no upgrade done, and no info in the log.
Seems like this SX needs to be replaced (and Netinstalled…).
Thanks for your help.
