Quite a number of people on these forums consider the stable to be rather unstable for certain features. If you poke around the forums you’ll see there are various bugs present in the stable release which are to be resolved in subsequent versions.
4.17 on the other hand seems to be the most stable of the 4.x branch, thus quite a few people choose to run it on production machines.
If you don’t require GRE, SSTP, or various IPv6 features then I suggest you use 4.17.
Thanks for your answer.
I’ve upgraded a device to 5.5 version. How do I downgrade it to a lower version (i.e. 4.17) ?
Thanks in advance.
don’t fix what aint broken. downgrading is only an unnecessary risk when you have already a working v5.5
Thanks, but according to the previous post, 4.17 version is more stable than 5.5 version.
So, I’ve a testing Mikrotik 450 which I upgraded to 5.5, but now I want to put it in production environment.
Which is the best choice: downgrade to 4.17 or remain in 5.5 ?
Thanks,
What blake said about v4.17 being “much more stable” is very subjective. From the number of support tickets, I’d say that v5.5 is now just as stable.
Normis & Blake,
thanks for your advices. I’ll give a try to the newest version putting it in produciton environment and, in case of troubles, I will downgrade.
King regards,
