Is there a download location for all the past versions of the software?
Thanks
no, please use the latest version
I would love to do that, but how do I do that and use the license key I’ve already paid for? I’d like to be able to setup a box again that we need to wipe out. The hardware hasn’t changed, we just have to reinstall it.
So… what do I do? I dont’ want to purchase another key when I already have one.
write to support@mikrotik.com first. if you are going to use different HDD you will need different license even if you use same old software version.
All the hardware is the same, see here for details.
Ok, I wrote to support:

I posted a couple of messages that explain my problem on your forums, and was directed to support email to hopefully find the answers needed. Thanks for your time.Forum threads:

Hello,
you were already told on th eforum that the only way to reset the password is to reinstall the RouterOS software.

And my reply back:
Yes, I understand that, but unfortunately I do not have the version I installed (or rather, I cannot seem to find it since it’s installation) and thus I need access to be able to download those older versions, hence the reason I stated on the forum:
“I would love to do that, but how do I do that and use the license key I’ve already paid for? I’d like to be able to setup a box again that we need to wipe out. This is when I was directed to email > support@mikrotik.com> . So, again I would ask, what do I do if I do not have the version, but have already paid for the key? All my hardware is the same. I had a user change the password and then forget it. I have to reload the OS but do not have the software to do it with the key I have already paid for. That is my dilemma.
Please advise on how to obtain past versions of the software, or another method to use the key I have already paid for. Thank you for your time.
Ok, I understand it was a mistake to give the end user the password. Yet when they own the equipment, you can’t exactly tell them “no”. If they ask to be the only one with access and are a demanding customer, then that’s what you give to them, knowing full well that in the end you’ll have to clean up their mess.
Well, that’s where I’m at right now - I need to clean up their mess. The password isn’t recoverable in any way, fine, I can deal with that. I need to reinstall the router OS and setup the box again, fine, I can deal with that too. How? How do I do that? I do not have a copy of version we installed on the box - yes, totally my fault - but also something that could easily be fixed if I could download the necessary version from the manufacturer of the software.
Instead, I receive an answer that doesn’t address my problem and tells me what I already know. Is there some reason that the older versions can’t be made available for download? Are we supposed to pay every time we have to reload one of our router boxes? That just doesn’t make much sense when we could just download the version we used previously and fix the problem.
I’m not asking for a free upgrade, or anything else. I’m not trying to change the hardware or upgrade it. I want to reinstall the same version I had on the same hardware and reload the OS to return to the customer. Fairly simple, or so I thought.
Again, I’m not trying to get anything for free. I just want to reload what I have already paid for. Yes, not having the version here at my disposal is my fault. Yet I didn’t think this was something that wasn’t easily correctable.
Anyone out there with any sort of help at all? Anyone? Other than to say “You need to reload the OS on your router”, because at this point, I’m full aware that needs to occur. ![]()
what version are you looking for?
2.8beta7 is what we had running on the box when the password was hosed up.
I don’t know if that was an upgrade from the original version we put on there, or not though. I assume it was installed with an earlier version (Is there a way to tell from the software id and software key?) and then patched to the 2.8beta7.
The email with the software ID and Key that I have is dated October, 21, 2003 if that helps.
I have a license for 2.8, but would like to use your version 2.7.
I’ve read the following post, and have suffered the same problem for 3 months now. If 2.7 fixes it, can I have it?

Hi,
We’ve been using Mikrotik as our border router for several years with great results. However, after upgrading to 2.8x, we’ve noticed that we are unable to use dual gateways with transparent proxy. Prior to 2.8x the setup that worked was basically this:
Setup transparent proxy
Setup source nat masqerade rules in firewall
Setup dual gateways in default route
As I mentioned before, all of this worked beautifully up to 2.8x. After we upgraded to 2.8x the proxy stopped using the dual gateways. Setting the default route back to a single gateway still works but loses the benefits of the extra bandwidth.
If your license was for 2.8.anything you should be able to install the latest 2.8.x and it will assume the previous license off the HD. Reinstall over top of the existing version with the latest download (not 2.9) and it should work fine. 2.8beta7 is WAY old and would cause you problems anyhow.

please also read the other email that was sent to you - you must install the latest version of router os ! there is no difference, even i you install 2.8 beta 7 or 2.8.27 - there is no difference. therefore please install 2.8.27 as it it newer and has no problems !
