DSCP PROBLEM

Hi all. I have an interesting problem that hopefully someone can help with.

I am currently using an RB450G as a DHCP server for some Wimax gear that I have deployed. This Wimax equipment requires that it’s managment IP address be delivered via DHCP. It will only match to this DHCP if the DHCP offer has a DSCP value of 6 in the packet. To achive this I have created a mangle rule that changes the DSCP value of all outbound LAN traffic to 6. This appears to work on all traffic but the DHCP Discovery and Offer broadcasts. I am beginning to think that becuase these are Layer 2 broadcasts that the router will not even think about changing the default Layer 3 DSCP value of 0.

Has anyone else run into this? Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

As an update… It looks that even when unicast DHCP traffic leaves the Mikrotik it is not changing the default DSCP value of 0 to the requested 6.

Can anyone please help! I don’t want to abandon Mikrotik in favor of Cisco, but I know that my Cisco gear can change these DSCP values.

Thanks for any input.
