Does anyone know the accuracy that the Dude 3.4 will ping? Regardless of network overhead, can the Dude reliably ping a device each second?
I have most of my intervals at one minute however I would like to tighten certain things down very tight in order to really stress things every now and then such as in troubleshooting. Every time I go below 3 to 5 second ping intervals, the Dude starts timing out and not returning pings on those devices immediately. I know that one second pings are a possibility with other programs (because I have used other programs to troubleshoot) however I cannot make the Dude do this.
I ping all of my hardware every 2 seconds all the time plus refresh the smtp info every 2 seconds. I don’t get any false ping loss. Is your network congested? I’m monitoring about 200 devices on a canopy network. The dude server reports it runs betweek 200-300k.
My network isn’t congested because I can use other programs to ping every second reliably. I use ping plotter to trace pings through my network every second without failure on multiple different devices. However, when I set the dude to 3 seconds it’s unreliable and lower than 3 seconds is just about a crash and burn. Anyone have any suggestions on what could be wrong?
