Dude backup always increasing is size

Hi,

Since dude 4 beta 3 the size of my backup are exploding…

2010-12-11 size = 11Meg
2011-03-14 size = 325Meg
2011-05-16 size = 676Meg

What is happening? Is there statistics or stuff that can be purge?
At this point my dude server is crashing at every 3-5 days and i have to re-install dude and restore last working backup (2011-05-16)

Please help.

Regards

David

Are you by any chance storing Mikrotik upgrades (.npk files) on the dude server?
I’d look at removing them and only leaving the most recent ones you need.

Also clear any large images etc you have uploaded, if you have a backup or have access to the xml file and can’t do this via the dude, I’ve found opening the file in notepad++ and clearing out the files you don’t need works just as well (MAKE SURE TO KEEP A BACKUP OF THE ORIGINAL FILE!)

The files directory under data is about 14Meg…
The dude.db is 2Gig…Will try to open it…but i’m pretty sure Notepadd++ will crash…

I’m not storing any Mikrotik upgrade…the dude server is running on a windows pc…

Bah, ignore me, just realised the Windows version only exports with a .db file and not an xml like the old one.

I’ve only just switched back to using the Windows version of the Dude recently due to the backup crashing and wiping configs when running on router-os.

Apologies for the misleading comments.

Have you changed the raw value keep from 2days? My 10 and 2hr are set to 365, 1day is 3650. My dude database is 1.4gb with about 250 devices and 500 probes… my export from 4/11 is same size.

You want me to decrease the size of the raw data that the server keep?
Anyway the main issue is the server crashing…I was thinking that the size of the database could be related…

Absolutely your database needs to be below 2gb or somewhere around there. Raw keep time should be 2 days or not much more. There have been reports of databases over 2gb eventually failing and causing people to rebuild their install.

OK…
I’m at this point…Will try to reduce raw data…if it’s not working i will consider restarting from scratch…

At this point dude get automatically corrupted when i reboot my computer…very annoying…

Yep I wish they took this 2gb issue to task, also let us know what happens…
