Dude + CompactFlash + RB1000

Dear Genius:

I need to perform dude server on RB1000 but a problem has arisen. HDD space is not enough!
I´ve installed a 4GB CompactFlash 4x into the external CompactFlash slots in RB1000 and it has been detected and formated by WebProxy but what I really need is to use that memory card with Dude Server.
How can I do it? CompactFlash memory added does not appear in >system resourses print
Moreover, when I try to add an image (on the dude background for example), the file is transferred to the HDD memory making the HDD Free space smaller.

I cant find the new memory installed. However, RB1000 Brochure says that WebProxy, UserManager backups and Dude Server can use memory card.

If someone enjoys answering to me, THANK YOU!

Ivan Perino

Currently you cannot run Dude server on Compact Flash with RB1000, but we are working on it.

I hate to ask, but is there an ETA for this feature? We’re needing to move from x86 machines to more “appliance” oriented hardware, ASAP.

Thanks!

Taylor

There are no information about data, when feature will be ready.

Will it make into 3.0 final?

Boss just ordered me an RB1000 to use for our office router/firewall and to put dude on.
When will we be able to use CF for the Dude??

Does anybody know?

Can this be done now?

Currently there is support for User Manager and other data storage by ‘/store’, in the future the same option will be available for the Dude.

ETA?
or
When?

Is the Future Here Yet???

right now Store can be used for User Manager and Webproxy, Dude support will be added soon

Any update as to when? It’s been what 4 - 5 months since you said soon.

Try upgrading to v.3.22

I just did exactly this a few days ago.. Works brilliantly. In fact, At first I installed Dude on the internal storage (NAND), but this caused the sector writes to shoot up by 12,000,000 every day (yes, 12 MILLION)… which can’t be good for the NAND. I stuck in a CF card and moved it to it from the Stores window.

So you are running dude on your rb1000 and the CF?

Yes, I am (was) doing just that. RB1000 doing hotspot, NAT and queues, running Dude with the store on a 512Mb CF, and Web-proxy also on the same CF.

This was only a temporary setup for a couple of days, but it worked fine for as long as it was running.

Soon! This was last said back in December.
Any ETA on soon?

Dude support for store was added long time ago,

/store> print
Flags: X - disabled, A - active
 # NAME TYPE DISK STATUS
 0 A dude1 dude micro-sd active
 1 web-proxy1 web-proxy system backup
 2 dude2 dude system backup

and I can confirm that… been using it that way for a while now.

some people need to learn how to use the scroll bar

K, thanks
