Dude Crashing?

I have been using The Dude for quite sometime with no problems, a few days ago I started having an issue when starting Dude, that it would run for 30 secs to 1 min then crash. This started in 4.02 and I updated to 4.03 with the same results. I have reloaded the Dude fresh and it works fine, but as soon and I put my database file back it goes back to crashing. Is there a way to check the database for errors or ideas or information I could provide to help debug and correct this issue. I really don’t want to have to redo the maps over from scratch again.

You can open the database with a Firefox plugin called SQLite Manager. There are other SQLite tools on the web. Maybe you can find one that will compact or verify/repair the database. I have not tried any repairs like this so I don’t know what you will find. Also what does the data look like? For all I know the data is just the old XML put into tables.

Is it possible for the database to be too big? right now the dude.db is 2,069,000 MB

Yep that is the problem. The dude fails to handle files larger than 2gb.

FUXOR!!! But you should be able to delete some history (i hope) and fix it then get into your settings and reduce raw value keep time. I only keep 2 days and 1 year of of the next two and 10 years of 1day values. My database is 500mb.

I was able to get the excess data out but could not vacuum the database to shrink it due to key errors. So i just started the recreation process. So close, yet so far away :frowning:

damn well they plan to have a database tool set sometime :frowning: can’t happen soon enough.

It would nice to send the data out to a MySQL database so we wouldn’t have this 2 GB file limit.

Hi 2 all from Ukraine !
I have the same problem…

Recently i install The Dude v4.0beta3 server on Mikrotik 5rc5 license Level 4 , i was doing a topology , add devices and other , all was ok , i make a backup(2,92 МБ) by button - exporting and then add more devices … then i want to do backup again, i push exporting , but Dude client hangs and then i can not connect to server , but i can connect by Winbox …so i reboot server and then i can enter The Dude , but all was faded :frowning: I saw a new blank, all I did - lost .

Then i load a first backup , all was ok , but when i add some devices The Dude hangs again when i push exporting … I tried this operation on different PCs (as clients of Dude )
