Dude font upload and disappear after a period of time.

Hi

I recently purchased an RB1100DX4 as my dude server(changed dude directory to the 60G SSD), and some of my site names are Chinese character. And I tried upload a Chinese ttf font to dude directory from Chinese windows machine, it worked right after upload, dude client can choose the new font and display Chinese character correctly, but after a period of time(maybe few hrs or after reboot)), the font will be deleted from the directory, and the display messed up.

Is there any resolution for this?

I have tried some versions, all have the same problem.
Does anyone have another alternative to solve it?

Thank a lot…

patrick

Still same problem in 6.44.6 :frowning:

This problem has been around for many years, the only way to solve it is a third-party script that checks if the font is in the directory and uploads it if the font magically disappears. How this is even allowed in the program is amazing. Why is the font deleted? And what leads to this - I have not been able to understand for many years. I have been supporting 4 servers with Dude. Dear developers - do something about this strange disease - Dude is a great tool, but its work is spoiled by such illogical bugs, there must be some way to understand in your source code where the DELETION of the font is allowed. Is it really impossible to solve this problem?

7.18.2 - the problem is still there, the font also disappears!

Mikrotik’s attitude towards its customers is astounding, COMPLETELY IGNORING THE PROBLEM FOR YEARS. I don’t even know, people paid you money for your software and hardware, and you just do nothing to fix the errors for years. Haven’t you read this since 2017? Haven’t you found beta testers to repeat this, figure it out and fix it? An astounding attitude towards people who paid money. If you don’t support Dude, just write that. ((((((((((((((((((((

When ROS is updated, the entire contents of the Dude folder are deleted and written again
And yes, Dude has no support

It is not deleted during the routeros update, the contents are simply deleted during normal operation - you are working and at some point the font just disappeared from the folder, no update was performed. And this glitch is already 10 years old. There is no support, but is it really impossible to fix this error after so many years? Why do we need this product at all then?

I assume you need the product. Write to support@mikrotik.com with a detailed bug report of your problem. Then you can be sure Mikrotik heard of the problem. This is just a community forum - no Mikrotik official needs to read these topics.

I decided that this is an official server, I will follow your advice - thank you!

I received an automatic reply by email, contact the distributor from whom you bought the equipment, or search for the answer - and a link to this forum. Well, I’m not surprised by anything, after 10 years of bugs.

I also have several Dude servers and I don’t see this problem. Maybe it’s because I use virtual environments. The font file in the screenshot was copied six months ago after the ROS update

I have this issue few days ago. Font file was missed from CCR router NVME drive, but Dude GUI show it exists.
Stops Dude, copy file back to its place, starts Dude, problem solved. Nothing to discuss. Nothing special.

I was seeking for the reason for multiple years and finally found it.

The problem happens when The Dude client quickly logs out and then logs in to a router.

There is one way to reproduce this issue. You need to enable automatic update in app preferences and then install some version of The Dude client that doesn’t match with server version. If your internet connection is fast, then after you launch The Dude, it will automatically and quickly update. This will cause consequent log out and log in events on the router, and they lead to files disappear.

All details were reported to MikroTik at the beginning of this year, but I’m not sure if they will fix it.
