Dude questions

I have a few questions regarding Dude:

  1. Can you usage graphs per wireless user? If so, is the history window finite?

  2. Can you graph rssi values from radios overtime? I want to graph fading per subscriber.

  3. I couldn’t find info of how to import MIBS. Is this documented somewhere?

  4. What does DUDE stand for?

  1. What does DUDE stand for?

you can look for the meaning of this word in the popular wikipedia

I looked there but couldnt find it nor could I find the answer to my other questions. I have it running but manual needs some work.

for the other questions - Uldis will answer you in a few minutes

OK, I thought you meant the Mikrotik Dude Wiki page. Yeah, I know the meaning of Dude but I thought it was an acronym. I couldn’t figure out what it would stand for . For names, I was thinking along the lines of MikroView for an NMS to fall inline with the likes of HP Openview or CiscoView.

  1. You can get such information from the RouterOS queues using SNMP
  2. If it is possible to get the SNMP value then you should be able to do that.
  3. Go to the MibNodes menu and there is file tab - there you can add the mib files.

OK. I got a MIB loaded and I can see it in the tree. Why isn’t there a search on the tree tab? There is a search on the module and file tabs. The tree tab is the most difficult to find things so a search would be nice to add.

A few more questions:

  1. How to you associate the newly added MIB with a hardware element?
  2. I’d like to configure my devices to send SNMP traps to Dude. On which port does Dude listen for SNMP traps?
  3. Is a syslog server planned for Dude?

TIA

AFAIK you don’t have to. If you’ve imported the correct MIB(s) it (they) will be used automatically.

That would be nice. I don’t know if The Dude can handle traps at the moment. Anyone else know more?
