Dude reporting whole network is "down" about every

Hi

I’ve just started using dude (v1 and now V2 beta). It works great but about every 15 mins the client seems to loose connection to the server and starts reporting everything is down, even my own computer.

I have both the server and client running on the same computer (mine) and have the server running all the time.

The server button at the top of the screen always shows green and disconnecting and reconnecting doesn’t help, but restarting the server fixes the problem for another 15 mins.

If I keep the server running all the time and shut down the client for several hours, the server seems to be tracking evrything properly as shown by the event logs when I restart the client, but then again, the client reports the whole network is down in about 15 mins.

If I change the polling interval, for say my own computer, from the defaults to interval of 5 seconds, timeout of 2 seconds it only takes a few minutes before my computer is reported as “down”.

Any suggestions about how I can solve this problem?

Also with V2 beta, every time i change the settings for a device the event log reports a login and logout event. Can this logging be stopped?

Thanks
GC

maybe you have some firewall or antivirus installed on your PC?

I have both but have shut them both down.

Strangly now the situation occurs randmonly every 15 mins to about one hour. It was very regular before, every 15 mins.

When this happens shutting down the client doesn’t help, but restarting the server does. If the server was running as a service, trying to stop it from the services control panel generates an error.

I notice the client status bar says the server is transmitting but not receiving so that would explain why the network is showing as down.

I tried removing my PC off the diagram but it didn’t help.

The diagram is very small – only 10 nodes, but if I increase the probing rates to say once every 5 seconds with a 2 second time out, then this problem happens very quickly.

Any suggestions?
Thx

Hi

Thx for the reply. I should have said I’m using Windows 2000 with SP4. I get no events logged when this problem happens.

Thx
