Dude server minor issues on beta2

Is anyone else experiencing some minor issues on beta2?

About the Dude Server:
I have about 200 devices and and about 300 links.
I run beta2 on X86 platform.
My dude server is about 60ms away.

About the Windows Client:
I am connected with the dude client on Windows 7

Symtoms:

  1. As soon as I click on export It disconnects and then reconnects after 20-30 seconds. Then I can export the data. However, after that sometimes it will falsely report many of my servers as down or I won’t be able to look at the link history graphs until I reboot.

  2. About 2 -3 times a week a random device will be up but a dude will no be pulling interface statistics via SNMP. When I click into the device it will not show a list of interfaces. As soon as I reboot the dude server the interface will pull statistics again.

Check out my reply on Dude CPU going to 100%.

Yes, I have experienced much of what you describe, but seem to have solved most of the issues.
The link data wont appear until after a reboot of my x86 ROS machine running Dude4b2. Also, it appears that polling the network doesnt work until the required tasks (causing it to go to 100%) are completed. Get calls from my other Dude users ‘the whole network is down!’. Not to worry, it will right itself, but it takes patience for sure while you hope it will all come back.

Yes, it seems that certain labels wont display properly until you kick them a little. I go to appearance and set the label refresh rate to something short like 2 seconds. Usually will then display properly. Then I set it to something other than default. Why its that way is a mystery, but Im sure these issues will be resolved…

Seems like booting the Dude server fixes many anomalies. My theory is that the database gets re-indexed and any possible corruption or null strings that creep into database seem to be cleaned up. Thats why the CPU gets maxed out, but its worth the wait for hundreds of devices and links to report properly…Not to mention the thousands of programming and development hours put into it. I finally have a kluge method for backup, and resolution of glitches.

Anybody out there ever find out how to use tftp on the ROS server hosting the Dude to get exports of the map off the dude1 store? That is a trick I havent figured out how to do, and I even read the manual…Anybody? :sunglasses:
