Dude tool with Windows 7 not working!!

Hi all,

About using a tool with dude remotly in windows 7 machines, that was working nice and smooth in XP, it just stop working.
The tool, Netop Remote Control, starts a remote connection to a host with authentication. We can use the tool directly or through Dude. I have created a tool to the program executable linked to the device IP. So, using the tools menu shortcut, now results in error in Windows 7, it can’t find the host ip!! :frowning:

Using the program Netop directly, I can access the machines with Windows 7, but through Dude, NO!!! I have the UAC and Windows Firewall disabled in the host machine! The program executable is configured to run as administrator.

The tool is configured with a simple command:

Type: execute
“C:\Archivos de programa\NetOp Remote Control\GUEST\Ngstw32.exe” [Device.FirstAddress]
Devices: all

It was working perfectly in Windows XP…

Can someone explain me what happened?? Any ideas? Anyone having the same problem with tools?

Thanks for all the help!

I can confirm I also have issues with The Dude on Windows 7 - it wont discover.

I found that if I loaded a saved network configuration it would partly work - the network would display orange (not green) as some services were not communicating - at the time I was too busy to take notice of which services were not communicating.

I’m still at the early stages of examining this, so can’t offer any advice other than to say you’re not the only one.

Found the answer on another post.
Need to turn off Windows7 User Access Control (UAC)

  • go to Control Panel
  • type UAC into the search
  • Access Change User Account and Control Settings
  • Set to “Never Notify Me” - see screenshot
  • Then reboot the PC.

The Dude works fine after that it seems - I could discover OK.
(remember the guys at MS are always “trying to help you”…)
