I’m trying to connect my mikrotik to an existing wireless network with DWL-900ap+'s. One of the DWL-900ap+ acts as a “Access Point” and has the ip 192.168.0.1, the rest of them are in “Wireless Client” mode and are in the same subnet. To the lan ports of the clients are pc that are also in the 192.168.0.0/24 subnet. I’ve managed to connect to the AP.
If anyone could help i would appreciate it. if more info are needed please ask.
Thanks in advance
connect wired or wireless to it?
Wireless…
If you want to keep it on the same subnet you will need to use a beta 3 version with psedo bridge
Can you please give me more info about the settings… i’ll write later what settings i’ve put,but it doesn’t work, basicly if the pc behind routeros doesn’t ping an other pc behind an dwl, the pc behind the dwl can’t ping the pc behind routeros. i’ve given an ip in the ether1 and i’ve bridged the interface with wlan1, and i’ve noticed that the pc behind dwl sees the same mac address for routeros and the pc connected to it.
i’m lost!!! i dont know what to do!
I finally quited!!!
No more wasted time on this problem… i was being nice to help someone else. So thank you all for your answers, by the way if someone found the way to do it i would be intrested to find out how!!!
Thanks everyone!
Like jwnc said, you need to put Version 3 beta onto the MikroTik then used the psuedo-bridge available with v3, this will create a transparent bridge between ether1 and WLAN1. I do just that and it works
Thanks HarvSky, I tried that and it didn’t work, it might have something to do with the arp table of the pc that i forgot to delete (it certainly is a problem) i’ll try again one more time and i’ll let you know of the results
I just talked to my partner and i’ve learned that if i dont give static ip to my mikrotik, there is no route to host, so nothing. the dhcp is disabled in the AP and with static ips i get nothing…
you do not need to give any IP to the MikroTik if you don’t want to, it is just a Transparent Bridge not doing any routing.
I understand what you’re saying… Have you tried it on DWL-900ap+?
Thanks in advance
Have you tried to setup mikrotik on just 802.11b ?
Because I’ve had a similar problem (but with the client mode) on DWL900ap+ and some modified firmware.
Yes, i used only 802.11b but nothing.
I’ve setup an extra mirotik on the roof to do more tests… we’ll see how it goes
OK, what i did was to use pseudo bridge in the client, i setup another mikrotik in the AP (ethernet) side, gave the MT static ARP for the client and everything is working great for about a month…
