An odd question for you all:
We know it works, but are there any downsides or potential problems with operating client radio WDS links through static WDS interfaces on an AP that is set to use ‘Dynamic WDS’?
We have been using a purely Dynamic WDS setup on all our links for awhile, but wanted to use static WDS on a few links for additional traffic control purposes, so we tried just adding a static WDS entry on the AP with the clients MAC address in it and so far it’s been working perfectly (client connects to the static interface and doesn’t generate a ‘wdsN’ interface). But it does beg the question, since the wireless interface on both the client radio and the AP are still set for “wds-mode=dynamic”, should they be changed to static or can they be safely left as they are?
I searched through the forums and couldn’t find any references to this scenario so I wanted to bring it up. What do you think? Has anyone else tried operating an AP in a mixed WDS interface setup like this?
