Is it true that Mikrotik doesnt support dyndns. If this is the case im truly shocked. Yes i have read about change IP. But seriously do you see any other commercial products that have support for change ip. Before coming here i have never heard of changeip and frankly not interested in using their services. I have been using dyndns for 3 years and never had a problem. Come on guys get with it. There is enough people here that would like to see dyndns.org support. Surly it cant be that hard to make a script.
Similar to you, I too had used DynDNS for many years by the time I discovered Mikrotik. However, having sampled ChangeIPs services I made the leap and so far so good. Sam is most probably a one man band and I can just picture him lying on a lilo in his pool, giving support via bluetooth and VOIP ![]()
Seriously, what’s the difference to you anyway. Why not support one of the local guys?
ChangeIP.com started around the same time as dyndns.org. We just grew slower which ended up allowing us to support our customers better.
1 - We charge a lot less than them.
2 - We provide support for free for Mikrotik users.
3 - We provide scripts that work reliably with RouterOS.
4 - 90% of the RouterOS boxes updating our systems would get locked out in a minute with dyndns’s policies.
5 - We participate in the forums for a better end user experience. Ask dyndns.org about RouterOS and they won’t even know what it is.
6 - We are built into many hardware devices. Routerboard, SonicWall, SONY LocationFree TV (Exclusive OEM), PCO DVRs, HoneyWell DVRs, Toshiba cameras & DVRs, Crestron home automation brains, many DLinks, anything using ddclient (embedded), draytek routers, lancom, netscreen, speedtouch, ubicom, trendnet, and many others.
Surly it cant be that hard to make a script.
No one is stopping anyone from making a script… it’s just that no one has or wants to. Go for it : )

Looks like you have answered my questions. Thanks for the great info. I will be sticking with dyndns until my hosting services run out and then i will move on to changeip
