e-mail module high cpu usage [6.34.4]

Hi all,

First of all, I can’t do a supout.rif because it lasts forever. If I insist, I get a “system is busy” error.

I have a weird issue with a RB1100. I set up this router to send rsc backups every day with a simple script and tool e-mail.
Today I noticed I wasn’t receiving emails since a few weeks ago, so I went to figure out what was happening.

The first thing I tried was running the backup script from the command line, but it never ended and the CPU was pegged at 100%.
If I tried to export, it apparently got hung trying to read the /tool e-mail settings.
In the GUI the email settings in Tool → E-mail appear all blank (lost), and I have previous backups containing the correct settings, so to me it’s obvious that something went wrong.

At this point I decided to update from 6.34.3 to 6.34.4, installation went OK but after the reboot I noticed the email module was still at ~70% CPU usage. The “management” module was consuming the remaining CPU time.

I tried setting the correct e-mail settings again but it never finished applying the settings. Rebooted the system a few times in a futile attempt to end the madness but it’s still the same.

Do you guys have seen this before? Thanks in advance for any clues.

Finally I was able to get the supout.rif, sent an email to support. Hope they can help me out.

More info about the issue:

After a reboot, the CPU usage remains briefly at normal levels (~2%), but after around 20-30 seconds it resumes some task left in background or whatever it is. I disabled all scheduler entries and there’s no job running shown in /system script jobs.

These commands all hang and have to be killed with Ctrl-C.

/tool e-mail export

/tool e-mail edit add address

/tool e-mail set address=....
