Email notifications for The Dude

I have The Dude installed on my 450G. I am trying to get the email notifications to work. I have a GMAIL account. Can someone please help me? I am using the following settings for The Dude and on Winbox for the 450G

The Dude
Server - unchecked. (Do I need to set up a server here?)
Email - 80******58@vtext.com (I want to receive an email text on my phone)

Winbox email configuration
Server - 72.14.213.109
Port - 587
From - gw********@gmail.com
User - gw********@gmail.com
Passord - ******** (I’m putting in my Gmail account password here)

I have verified that I have the email notifications turned on in the Polling tab of the Preferences settings for The Dude. I have also verified that a Popup notification works when something goes down so I know notifications can work.

Can anyone help me? I’ve tried everything!!

I don’t use gmail but there was a thread by slech that he has it working…

The problem is that I don’t have a Windows machine that is running all the time. I really want this service to initiate from my 450G (because it’s operating all the time). This way I can have a 24/7 monitor for my network.

For the dude if you don’t check the “server” on the notification it will use the server setup in the general tab off of the main settings button.

The server that the dude sends email to can’t use authentication. I don’t know of a way to send email to Google with out using authentication.
So can you setup winbox to accept email and then forward it to google? Sorry I don’t have a winbox either :slight_smile:
