Im going to deply two of these on a RB333, but the “default” power output settings are not what the specifications say. Also same applies to a wistrom wlm54ag-6b card, the power readings in mikrotik arent what the card can do either, off by 2 db.
For example the card has 20dbm output in 5.7 to 5.8ghz 802.11a mode between 6-24 mbps, but the default in mikrotik is 16dbm, is it safe to set it to manual and enter in what the specifications say the card can do? or is there an offset value?
If you were talking about the ubiquiti cards the sr2’s and the xr2.s I would say its fine with default being 16 because with the ubiquiti cards there is a 10db difference in set levels. ie, 16dmb = 26 which is 400mw the top output power of the sr2. However the 8602-s are 600mw output power. Im not sure if there is a power offset on these. So this is a questions i would like to ask aswell. what is the TOP dbm we can set this card to without hurint it. even with 16dbm with the 10 db power offset it is still only 400mw not 600. I beleive it should be 18 db… Not sure. please leave some info guys. Thanks -Jordan
Thanks for the Info. So im guessing When i got this card it was really only 200mw card… On the 5.8ghz frequency… thats lame… O well. Thanks for the offset table though. Appreciate it. -Jordan
Yea I knew it was only 20dbm in 5.8ghz, I just wanted the card to actually DO it, but I went ahead and deployed a 7km link with it, and it truly does have an offset and does 20dbm at the default setting, the link is great with the card! Just hope it holds!
