Hello,
I’ve recently purchased a couple Engenius EMP-9605H cards and am having issues with power output.
Tested in RB192 and RB493 with ROS 5.14.
I have tried multiple configs, default power, card rates, etc, nothing seems to bring the output up to anything usable. I don’t have an accurate way of measuring, but with the laptop a few feet away I am receiving about 15dB. Using a nice little omni on the card and would expect more like 60dB.
I notice that there is no driver in use showing up on the RB, am I just out of luck right now? This card uses Atheros AR9220 chipset which is the same as the R52Hn.
Any assistance or comments would be appreciated!
Hello,
when you say that only have 15 db, this is what you see in the registration table? -15?
If It’s like this.. -15 is powerful than -60.
I was observing what is being reported on my laptop client, which seems to report S/N. What I am seeing at about 3ft would be roughly -90 dB. What I am seeing from a Linksys WRT54GL router 12 ft away is being reported as 55db = ~ -58db. In other words, the power output is very small compared to what it should be.
Mikrotik Current Tx Power is indicating up to 25dBm with the 9605. My Chains are setup correctly, doesn’t help by switching. I only am using one antenna.
So, after replacing the Engenius 9605H card with a Mikrotik R52hn, and keeping all other components the same, I have good signal strength. Has anyone else tried the 9605H in a Routerboard with success? Without currently having another device to test the card, I am wondering if it is defective or if there are compatibility issues.
I threw all my engenius gear in the garbage, literally, a while ago. never looked back.
