EoIP between DSL and Leased Line

Hi Gurus,

I am about to try linking 2 sites via the internet using EoIP.

Here is the setup I am thinking of using…

LAN - RouterOS - DSL == INTERNET == Leased Line - RouterOS - LAN

The problem I see at the moment is at the point where the leased line is will be some kind of router. At this moment I have no control of it. I see this as being a stumbling block.

Anyone any ideas how exactly EoIP works (ie does it tunnel through a specific port?) and what I will need to request the router owner to do/check before I drive hundreds of miles for it not to work.

Many thanks

James

it is GRE but afaik completely proprietary to mikrotik. there have to be mikrotik routers on both ends.

if bridging is not needed, there are other compatible tunnel-types like pptp or ipsec.
