With other VPNs there is a record in the log but not EoIP.
I can get EoIP working accross 1 segment of my LAN but cannot get it to work through a Buffalo WBR-G54 router (I’m only using the wired part). I’ve set it up with no-NAT so it is just static routing. I can ping in both directions, open Winbox etc through it, I feel sure data is going through OK but cannot get EoIP working…
Slept on it and now i think I remember how to test if the EoIP is working: Use Torch!
I’ve looked at the physical ethernet ports and can only see data goning out on both routers and none comming in for protocol 47.
I can created pptp tunnels in both directions and they do work, I suppose I may have to try putting my EoIP inside the PPtP tunnel but it is overkill. I will test later to see if the PPPoE is then going in side the EoIP…
for EoIP-tunnels there has to be be a MT router on both sides and a working ip-connection.
EoIP-tunnel is using GRE so protocol type 47 must not be blocked on the ip-path.
EoIP creates an ethernet-type interface on the MT, wich has to be connected to the other interfaces, either by a bridge-group or by assigning an ip-address to the EoIP interface.
a quick test is to look into the arp cache, following a ping. it should show MAC-addresses from the other side of the EoIP-tunnel.
This is probably due to my lack of routing knowledge… I really need help with this I I’m wanting to make it live tomorrow (nothing like the last minute)
I’ve a MT box at each end and a Buffalo router (BR) in the middle The 2 subnets are 192.168.0.0 and 192.168.8.0 and the BR is routing between them with no problem at all, I’ve also set up 2 more sub nets for the EoIP: 192.168.19.0 & 192.168.18.0 and assiged addresses on the EoIP interface on each MT box and set the BR to route between them with static routes.
The addresses assigned on the MT boxes are:
MT Box–Ethernet adaptors—EoIP ------------------Remote EoIP Address
A---------192.168.0.61---------192.168.19.61-------192.168.18.203
B---------192.168.8.203--------192.168.18.203-----192.168.19.61
ARP is set to enabled for these interfaces
There are no firewalls set up either. I can ping anything from anything but the EoIP will not work
Mag, could you log in to my routers and have a look if? I would seem to me that you full understan these thing…
