I’m having some problems with an EoIP tunnel.
2 sites, about 4 hops from each other is in an EoIP tunnel, on the ‘server’ side there is a Linux telnet server and on the ‘client’ site, 5 PCs that log into and use the telnet server.
Every now and again, randomly, a PC on the client side will loose it’s connection to the server and they have to re-connect telnet. But only 1 PC at a time, so it does not seem that the link or any hop in between went down, as the other PCs stay connected. PCs on the ‘server’ side of the network never disconnects.
I’ve looked at connection tracking and sometimes, I see the 2 EoIP IPs listed twice(gre connection type), with a ‘U’ (unreplied) and also a connection with no ‘U’ between the same IPs.
I suspect it is a symptom of the problem.
What can I do/check to stabilise this link? Should I disable pptp helper services on the 2 routers, or all hops in between as well?
What else can be the cause?
Thanks
