I have been getting email notifications right along using a email server that does not require authentication. One day about 2 months ago the email quit working and after reading many posts on the forum I cannot find a solution to the problem. The server is pingable from the router serving as the Dude Server. I have upgraded the Dude to 4.0beta2 some time ago with no success. I would greatly appreciate any helpful comments in resolving this issue. Thanks in advance.
Find a freeware email program that can send an email and use it to send mail from various machines to determine if the mail server is rejecting mail. If the server is not rejecting mail install wireshark on your dude server and verify that traffic is actually going to the mail server when it should by causing a false positive. In wireshark put “host 192.168.1.1” to filter traffic to only the server you are interested in where the IP address matches that of your mail server.
