I try to connect to a RB SXT 5HnD using winbox (the last and a older version) on Windows 8 and I get the ERROR: could not connect to “Mac adrress” (port 20561)!
The RB OS version is an older one 5.5!
Even via Browser it is not possible to connect on it!
If I cant connect it is also not possible to update the Router OS to a newer version!
Another Questions is , if i make a upgrade on Routerboard SXT 5HnD will the configuration still exist or is it necessary to set it up again from brginning ?
If you upgrade, your configuration will still be intact.
Check your system network settings, to see if you don’t have a virtual interface, if you do, disable it and try reconnecting to your router via MAC again.
I connect my RB SXT 5HnD directly with a ethernet cable to my Laptop running Windows 10.
I try to Connect to the RB SXT 5HnD (wich is in ver 5.5 but still running), with all for me possible Versions of Winbox 2.2.16, 2.2.18, …, 3.11, 3.22 unfortunately it is not possible.
I get always the same message: “Error: could not connect to [MAC Address of my RB SXT 5HnD] (port 20561)”
I tried with disabled as well as with the Firewall enabled.
This RB SXT (let us give the name “main” to it) has a connection to another RB SXT (“client”). I updated & upgraded recently the client to the stable v6.46.4. The connection still exists. But i want to update & upgrade also the main. Because of the above mentioned connection issue it is for me not possible.
…and the 1st question is: How can i connect to my main RB SXT wich is running on v5.5 ?
…my 2nd question is: According to the Webfig of my client’s interface i achieve with the above mentioned connection an average Tx/Rx Signal Strength of -75/-70 dBm.
Before the update, the numbers here were significantly better!
In a bandwith test I get only 12.0 kbps when sending from the RS. see
The receive is much better there 11.0 Mbps!
Is this, in your opinion, due to the update of the main RB SXT?
…my 3rd question is: Can you somehow have a connection from the client router to the main router to update the main? e.g. By ip-neighbors
