Today i discovered, that ether6 port on my RB5009UG+S+IN only connects with 100 Mbps. Tried different cables, different devices, some devices won’t even connect (connected, disconnected, connected, disconnected,…), others connect only at 100 Mbps. If i move the same cable to port 5 or 7 it connects with 1 Gbps. Pins in port are not damaged (even tried cleaning them, but no difference).
Can port die just half way? Device will be 2 years old in 3 months.
It could well be one of the pin disconnected (like a cold solder on the PCB).
10/100 use 4 pins/wires, if 1,2,3 and 6 are good, up to 100 the connection is good
1000 uses all 8 of them, so if any among 4,5,7 and 8 is disconnected, 1000 connection will fail.
I realy don’t have the slightest idea what is happening. Under Interface i can see information on Advertising from 10M to 1G base T full and under Link Partner Advertising only from 10M to 100M baseT full. Also connecting takes almost a minute on Ether6.
As soon as i move the same LAN cable from Ether 6 to Ether5 i get Link Partner Advertising from 10M to 1G baseT full.
