Hi there! I’ve experienced some unussual problems with my new Mikrotik hAP ac. I can’t even update it to lastest version. That’s why I decided to try to solve issues with netinstall program. Disabled all NIC’s on my PC, connected ethernet cable from my PC directly to Mikrotik ether1 port, configured netinstall (I was following a tutorial written on MikrotikWiki), enabled bootserver in netinstall settings, and put mikrotik in ethermode. Restarted mikrotik, so it clould boot in ethermode (I typed following command: /system routerboard settings set boot-device = try-ethernet-once-then-nand ) but I can’t see any devices in NetInstall program. I even tryed putting mikrotik in etherboot mode with a reset button but same problem occured.. What should I do?
If you’re using a laptop, try disabling the wireless interface, to force the OS to make sure it’s using the ethernet interface.
A tip: Keep pressing the rest button until you see the router appearing in netinstall.
I had no luck with a reset button, BUT, I managed to put it in ethermode with a terminal. Rebooted it, quickly switched my cable from eth5 to eth1, and the router showed up in NetInstall program. Finally! I selected the “routeros-mipsbe-6.42.5” package, clicked install but the installation process was aborted every time. It looked like it couldn’t format router’s hard drive. I tried launching NetInstall on my personal PC. The router successfully upgraded, I restarted it, but then, I couldn’t access it on 192.168.88.1. I tried to reboot it few times, but the same problem. Then, I reset it with the reset button, and from now on, the router works flawlessly! The problem is solved.
