Hi.
i am new to the forum, someone pointed to mikrotik to find a solution for my issue.
in my office we do have 2 adsl connections from different isps.
Each of the connection needs its own router to work since it is mac address locked from isp. at the moment router A has ip address 192.168.1.1/24 and router B it has 192.168.0.1/24.
i would like to find a cheap solution to make full use of the dsl lines working at the same time.
since i am new i would appreciate if someone will tell me cpe model/software and how to do it.
try to search in this forums >>> PCC
Almost any router board will do what you need for load balancing, look up PCC and read up on it. You just need to answer how much bandwidth will you be pushing through the box and what other rules are you looking at doing. In most cases a 450 board will be more than enough to handle most of your needs. If you want Gigabit wire speeds and more processing power, the 450G will be what you are looking for with a small office. If you are looking at a bigger office then a box with more power will be what you want.
Line bonding is something that is completely different than load balancing, the only way you can bond connections is if you control both ends of the connection. Some ISPs may be willing to work with you and set up bonding on their end, but all of your internet connections are going to have to come from them if you want to do bonding, there is no way that you will be able to get two separate ISPs to set up bonding for you.
the problem is that i am not having the same isp. they are completely different.
in one of them a have found a way to change its router to anything i like. the other one is impossible to change it.
each line’s dsl sync is around 13Mbps/1Mbps.
I do not want gigabit interface.
Do you think that i could do a line bonding based on the info i have given up to now, or do you need some more?
If yes, let me know what other info.
i have looked for the 450 board and it’s price seems reasonable enough.
As everyone else said, go look up PCC. It’s ideal for your use case.
Actual bonding you cannot do across different ISPs. PCC shares load across interfaces according to an algorithm you specify. The wiki has details, the forums have lots of threads about it.
Bonding can be done across several ADSL lines despite the ADSL ISP saying No.
However, you have to have your own co-located server somewhere with Huge bandwidth and unlimited GB/month, and bond all your connections back to that.
It does work, but is more cost and latency (i found) than it is worth.
Just use PCC, have an easier time of it, and tell the clients that bbc iPlayer is forbidden ![]()
