We have 2 WAN links and recently brought two RB 1100ahx4 routers. The plan was to attach each router to one WAN as “primary” for that WAN and to use Bypass feature to attach another WAN to another router (so when one router become down another will start to use second WAN).
The problem is that I can’t detect the moment when router is down. Say the WAN line connected to eth11 at router 1 (R1 for short), and there is a link from eth12 of R1 to eth10 of R2. R2 sees this link as “always on” despite of R1 state (if R1 is ok the the link is up, if R1 is down the link is up again since Bypass is in effect).
What I miss here? How can I tell (on R2) if R1 is down or not and vice versa?
Thank you!
