I installed an outdoor RB532 at a client, connected it up as we always did, turned it on, got a link. no problems there.
BUT, when we tried to run a bandwidth test, this is what we got:
Laptop > Laptop (through RB532 > [RF] > RB532) = approx 10Mbps
Laptop > RB532 = approx 10Mbps
RB532 > [RF] > RB532 = approx 22Mbps
This obviously shows the problem as being related to the RB’s Ethernet interface. I tried connecting the RB to the client’s switch, and also directly to my laptop, same results.
I also tried forcing the RB’s Eth port to 100/FullDuplex, 100/HalfDuplex, and AutoNegotiate.
The switches are brand new 10/100 Switches, there’s nothing else on the LAN. Has anyone ever experienced this?
there is no bridging involved. The setup was* fully routed.
I could try using another interface, but the RB was* outdoors on a rooftop, a good 20m away from the nearest power source, I would need a way to power the board, and since there is only 1 port which supports PoE, I couldn’t have done this without keeping the unit open.
NOTE: I say ‘WAS’ because client ultimately refused the whole thing and we ended up with a couple of antennas smiling at us and an unhappy customer.
