Ethernet issue

I have 2 RB230s that seem to exhibit the same thing. If the ethernet cable is over 200’ (or something like that) they get link but do not communicate. I have a TrangoLink10 at 265’ on a tower. I can ping it with my laptop and get better than 99% return. If I connect it to the router, I get about 20% returns, if it is happy. It has been as low and 0.

The second board is about the same distance from a Smartbridges Outdoor Pro on another tower. Same deal. PC will ping, RB won’t. I have ‘fixed’ one by putting a hub between the RB and the radio, but that is not a real solution.

Anyone have suggestion?

I found a solution. Setting the ports that have the long cables to 10M instead of letting them go to 100M seems to have solved the problem. Not a big deal right now, but at some point I may want the 100M, so I hope MT addresses the problem of long cable at 100M.

did you try the long-cable=yes setting on the ethernet interfaces?

I saw that setting, did not try it as when I looked in the book it referenced a specific card. I may give it a try before the one tower goes live. I will post results here when I try it.

that specific chipset is the exact same one that is on the routerboard  so try that setting

I will do that this afternoon when I get back to the office.
Thanks

Changed to long-wire and went back to 100M. Appears to be working. Dropped 7 of 806 packets.
