We have a wireless network setup. The network works perfect for most sites. We have a few sites that have issues though with the Ethernet link dropping. We are using RB493 as a local router on sites and RB435 for the AP’s. The wireless link is always staying up and running and we have no issues with this. Our Ethernet link drops periodically. When it drops neither system shows anything in the log. We reboot and everything works again. We have replaced all equipment and cables and still has same issues. We have plugged the AP into cisco 3550 switch and still has same issue. We have tried forcing the negotiation on it but this does not work. We currently have it set to auto. When working everything test and works perfect. We just drop the Ethernet link every so often and unable to figure out why. I was just looking to see if anyone else had any ideas as to what we may be overlooking.
I think you will find that this is referred to as “PORT FLAP ISSUE”
“Rudy” started a thread a while ago, you will find dozens of us in the same boat!!!
Incidently, my last Port Flap was on July 19th when I suffered 9 in the space of 7 minutes.. On July 17th there was 1 only that day, on July 14th there was over 30 port flaps that day.
Interestingly, there has been none since July 19th and today is 2nd Aug..
I have changed nothing, not even firmware or software.
i have the same issue too, happen 2 weeks ago, i have rb433AH and conecter to RB450 , the ethernet link for some minute will be down dont know why, although i dont change the cable, its fixed till now, after i jump the cable with tp link 5 port swith, [Rb433-switch-Rb450] the ethernet never down randomly till now… and i dont do anyting for that.. :curious
