Ethernet stats shows zero every few ticks

In Winbox, and SSH, when viewing interface statistics it will show all zeros for one update, every few updates. What I mean is that it will show statistics normally for a few seconds and then will show all zeroes for one update, then go back to displaying normal numbers for a few updates before displaying zeros again. It does not appear to be affecting actual traffic, but does ruin the real-time graphs within Winbox with the spikey data.

The peculiar part is that it appears to only happen to Ethernet interfaces. It does not happen with VLANs on an Ethernet interface, or on the Fiber interface/VLANS. There is definitely traffic flowing through these interfaces when ROS is reporting zero.

This is happening on a 2011UiAS running 6.11. I will update ROS when I can. I am not seeing this on other 2011UiAS running 6.10 or 6.18.

Any ideas?

This is just a sampling error. WinBox probably gets the time elapsed then reads the counter. If it doesn’t get a response in a reasonable period of time, x milliseconds, it will show 0 traffic flow for that sample period. The next sample period will then show bytes throughput for two sample intervals give 2x the traffic rate.
