Hi,

In according with the future new version of document ETSI EN 301 893 V2.0.7, what do you do Mikrotik to respect the specifications?

I think about this paragraph in particularity (4.2.9):

4.2.9
User Access Restrictions
4.2.9.1 Definition
User Access Restrictions are constraints implemented in the RLAN device to restrict access of the user to any hardware
and/or software settings of the equipment, including software replacement(s), which may impact (directly or indirectly)
the compliance of the equipment with the requirements in the present document.

NOTE:
The user should be understood as the end user, the operator or any person not responsible for the
compliance of the equipment against the requirements in the present document.

4.2.9.2 Requirement
The equipment shall be so constructed that settings (hardware and/or software) related to DFS shall not be accessible to
the user if changing those settings result in the equipment no longer being compliant with the DFS requirements in clause 4.2.6.

The above requirement includes the prevention of indirect access to any setting that impacts DFS. The following is a
non-exhaustive list of examples of such indirect access.

EXAMPLE 1:
The equipment should not allow the user to change the country of operation and/or the operating
frequency band if that results in the equipment no longer being compliant with the DFS
requirements.

EXAMPLE 2:
The equipment should not accept software and/or firmware which results in the equipment no
longer being compliant with the DFS requirements, e.g.:

  • software and/or firmware provided by the manufacturer but intended for other regulatory
    regimes;

  • modified software and/or firmware where the software and/or firmware is available as open
    source code;

  • previous versions of the software and/or firmware (downgrade)

You will sell a special model by country?

It is the reseller who convert the antenna to the country? And we will can’t be downgrade the antenna?

Besides of it, market don’t like empty spaces. Unlockers and 3rd party tools and solutions will come to bypass bandlocks, just like simlocks.

The latest available version is v2.0.10.
As you may also know this is only a draft report and it is not active legislation. There will be more draft reviews after this.
It is planned only to take effect at the end of the year (Citation in the OJ 2017-10-28). But there could be changes made until then

I know that is not the active legislation.

However, I would like to know if you will apply the law and have technical solution, if it become the active legislation? :slight_smile:
