Is the only Routerboard alternative for an EVDO interface a RB230 with a PCMCIA EVDO card? If so, is any US company still selling the RB230? Otherwise, is there any other Routerboard EVDO alternatives (like a compatible miniPCI EVDO Card)?
right now yes, RB230 is the only option. many resellers have it, just contact them.
Do you mean to say MT does support CDMA cards??? ![]()
If true, then WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! Gr8 NEWS!!!
CDMA minipci is already available. Just Google.
ummm, it’s nothing new actually:

at our MUMs we even have had presentations on applications of EVDO/CDMA devices.
Thumbs Up! Happiest News. Way to go. Damn I should have known this long ago.
Can we build tower equipment? or is it just for client use? Specs, test more info please to support@gcs.co.za.
Normis.
Sorry to post again, was just asking if we can use MT + CDMA to build CDMA tower equipment. Busy arranging meetings with Qualcomm and Huawei for next week.
Thx.
you can use it as a client, eg. connect to the CDMA network and use it as a backup connection for your customers, in case ‘normal’ connection fails. or you can use it in regions where nothing else is avaiable
Feeling confused.

Happy for easy future migrations from wifi to CDMA on MT RBs. Just replace Cards.
Sad for… well it would have been nice to be able to deploy CDMA towers on a system we are quite familiar with, and the cost off course.
Has anyone tried connecting two CDMA modems in direct connection on MT? Maybe nonsense question.
Maybe I need to clafiry what CDMA is? It’s an alternative to GSM. If there is CDMA coverage in your area, you can connect to your cellphone provider’s network and use the internet provided by them.
Got quotes on CDMA tower equipment, and I should say it is quite expenssive, even compared to Wimax.
Seems the AD-Hoc capabilities of WIFI is non existent in CDMA or Wimax. Just like a NIC can communicate with a NIC, bu two modems can’t, they need a PBX in between similar to a BTS.
Thx for reply Normis.
