Excessive broadcasts/multicast, probably a loop

Hello everyone,

I have an issue in my network using RB1009.
The issue is receiving this message “excessive broadcasts/multicast, probably a loop”, that happened when I changed 3 TP Link access points to POE instead of direct power .

Diagram as below :

Router Board ------> UPNT M5 AP -----------> UBNT M5 Station ------> tp link switch 8 ports . then from this switch to 6 APs ( 3 UBNT & 3 TP link ).

The issue happened only when I changed TP Link APs to POE instead of direct power .
the above message will not be disappeared till I restart one of these APs ,then again will come back after sometime .
When I monitor RX in RB port , noticed a huge traffic till I restart the AP.

Did anybody faced same issue? please your support .

Hi,

I had a similar problem some time ago. There was a bug in the TP Link’s firmware regarding IGMP handling, resulting in hughe amounts of IGMP traffic originating from the TP Link units. Check if you’re running the latest firmware on the TP Link devices.

These are known bugs general IGMP and PIM.
Normis said that this will not improve.
IGMP and PIM will not be improved and supported in the coming years

Important announcement. IGMP snooping works ok!!

From the RuterOS version 6.43rc66, IGMP snooping works.

I don’t know whether to be happy or congratulate, whether to cry, I waited for IGMP 10 years!
Many years of requests and reminders.

Thank you IPTV works.
