experience

Hi,
I have a little WISP.
Until now I have used Dlink product and I have realized an hot spot with 3 AP on 2.4GHz covering 1 Km beam metropolitan area.
Now customer are began to much to manage with a Dlink consumer product.

All my custumers have Dlink 900AP+ and DLINK 2000AP+.

I want Use Routerboard together SR5 for backhall and CM9 for AP.
I want to know if there is someone that use as basestation AP the routerboard 532 and CPE 900AP+ or 2000AP+ and what the experience.

I have experience that different vendor have different behaviour.
Ciao

Works fine for me using latest firmware on the D-Link AP and having it set up in client mode, with Mikrotik set up as ap-bridge. This is good for several km as long as you have reasonable antennas.

Do note that I haven’t tested it for long term reliability so your results may vary.

OT - Hi NZ. What part of New Zealand are you in? Curious to know the RF regs over there. paul at hendry dot tc

Regs are pretty simple

4w’s for 2.4
1w for 5.15-5.25
4w’s for 5.25-5.35
4w for 5.725 to 5.825 PtMP
200w for 5.725 to 5.825 PtP:D

I’m in Blenheim. Beccara has covered the regs exactly

Humph!

Aaargh!

Best regards,
Christian Meis

200W? Do you grill your sheep with that?

Christian

I think that’s what makes the lamb extra tender

I have a few other questions about NZ, could I be cheeky and get either of you to drop me an email as I’m not sure the MK support forum is the best place for a discussion

Sure Paul!

FYI and anyone else interested, the full NZ regs covering unlicensed bands can be found at http://www.rsm.govt.nz/licensing/gurls/gurl-srd.html

– EDIT –

WLAN related stuff is at http://www.rsm.govt.nz/licensing/frl/information.html

No, just the possums. Unless you count myself…

Gee, that’s funny. In New Zealand 5.25-5.35 is 200mW, or 1W if you have TPC and DFC. Read the regs!!!

Meh, i was posting off the top of my head
