I have a building with two levels. I intend to use 4 mikrotik to have the entire building covered by wireless. The problem is that I need to have only one SSID visible to all the network. I saw on manny posts on forum that the solution is using WDS but I have the chace when I’ll scan the network to see one-two-three-four SSID (same name) at onces. Is there any possibility to see only one SSID? Any equipment can do this?
Hello,
Any model will do the trick. But you must select based on client hardware (2.4ghz, 5ghz), expected load, etc.
There is no one size fits all. Read the specs on routerboard.com.
This being said, I like the hAP ac (not lite). 3x3 on both radios. They make good flexible APs.
connect all AP from building levels not in WDS with each other but via UTP cat5e cable directly to your main router/switch ( or to a rb750gr3 from where you can manage them with CAPsMAN ); configure each AP with same ESSID, only different frequency ( and maybe channel width: one on 20Mhz, other on 20/40 Mhz ).
However it is pure theory because only you can decide what you need in conjunction with factors like: number of clients to be connected, traffic load etc.
